Players ratings
season 2001/2002
I've rated all (except a few that played about one match) the players that have played in this years season on how good they've been. At the end I've also given a mark out of 10
Ruud van Nistelrooy
A brilliant start to the season especially after being out last year with a long term injury. Scored 36 goals and broke the record by scoring in 8 premiership matches in a row. Been disappointing in the last matches
8 1/2
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Played brilliantly all year and improved a lot. Scored his hat-trick and 100th goal for united. Makes a good partnership with van Nistelrooy
9
Diego Forlan
He hasn't impressed me very much but showed some promise in a few matches. Looks hopeful for the future and I reckon once he's scored he wont stop!
5
Quinton Fortune
Not done too well, scored a couple of goals, maybe would of done better if he'd been given the chance to
5
Ryan Giggs
Done some cracking runs from defence to attack and scored a few as well. Made a difference to United's title race after being out for a few months. Disappointing sometimes but an overall key player
9 1/2
Luke Chadwick
Not had a bad season but not had a good one. Missed too many easy chances especially the FA cup 3rd round against Aston Villa
4 1/2
Juan Veron
The premierships most expensive player for £28.1 million. Been thought of too highly and had some hassle with the 'going back to Lazio' rumours and his achilles injury. A good playmaker though and should do a lot better next season
8
Nicky Butt
Made a good replacement for Keane and an England definite if his knee is alright. Created chances and overall had a very good season
8 1/2
Paul Scholes
His tempers not been that bad and made a good central partnership with Keane or Butt in his prefered postion, rather than just behind the lone striker
8 1/2
Roy Keane
Where would United be without him? Done excellently, kept spirits high, his temper down, and recovered well from his hamstring injury against la Coruna. Definitely the star
10
David Beckham
It was a big disappointment for him and United with his metatarsal injury but he's keeping himself fit for the world cup. Had a very good season for United and England as captain
9
Phil Neville
Scored a few goals and been a pretty good stand in for injurys. Played well down the right wing but not done enough to get a world cup place
7 1/2
Gary Neville
Also a big disappointment for him, United and England with his metatarsal injurybut otherwise made a brilliant centre back partnership with Blanc and running the right wing with Beckham
8 1/2
Wes Brown
Made some mistakes earlier on in the season but recovered from those and fitted back well into the heart of defence after being out injured. Made his name in Sven's books and is off to the World Cup
8
Laurent Blanc
Expected to be a bad buy but has turned out to be solid in defence, even at the age of 36. Often been the last man and had a good and probably last season
9
John O'shea
Played superbly when given the chance. Will do well in the future and has made a good partnership with Blanc or occasionally Neville
7
Mikael Silvestre
Brilliant season down the left wing, created crosses and been on target a few times. Consistent player, can't think of a bad game he's had
9 1/2
Denis Irwin
Finished his last season for Manchester United and had a good career with them. This season showed his age a bit but played solidly otherwise
6
Roy Carroll
Been a good stand in goalkeeper for Barthez. Never played badly
7
Fabien Barthez
Was he meant ot be the worlds no.1 keeper? Made a bad start with lack of understanding with Brown but he also recovered from that and has been important in some games
