Painted Canyon: This link takes you to the Sedimentary Environments page of an introductory geology course dealing with Painted Canyon.  The site discusses the sedimentary environments responsible for the deposition of the rocks found at Painted Canyon, but it does not tie the individual environments together to show facies relationships at any particular point in time or facies changes through time.  There is more to the site than just sedimentary environments, but be careful. Once I left the Sed. Environments page to visit other parts of the site, I could not find my way back to the Sed. Environment page with the links available on the site.  Also, anyone who does not know where Painted Canyon is, will still be in the dark after visiting the site, although they will know a lot about the geology of the canyon.  This site is brought to you by Stephen J. Reynolds and Julia K. Johnson, of Arizona State University (ASU).

Sites for the Professional Geologist

Clastic Depositional Environments
-- Photos of real core illustrating depositional textures of different clastic depositional environments courtesy of University of British Columbia.  Very well done site.  Hope they continue to add to the web page.
Glosario Estratigrphicoglossary of stratigraphic terms.  The terms are in Spanish and English, but the definitions are in Spanish.  Sequence stratigraphy terminology English to Spanish.
