Allow me to introduce myself.  I am Bob Rieser, a geologist from Texas, but born in Pennsylvania.  I graduated from Notre Dame University in 1973 with a BS degree in geology and from Ohio University in 1976 with an MS degree in geology.  I did my Master's thesis on a structural problem in California. The photo to the right was taken in January 2000 for a work-related ID photo in Venezuela.  Normally I wear glasses, but for this photo I had to remove them.  I would include a different photo if I had a better one.
I have worked in the petroleum industry as an exploration and exploitation geologist, as well as in other capacities, and I have experience in the environmental industry conducting site assessments.  Most of my carreer has been spent in Houston, Texas, but since August 1997, I have been working outside the US, first in Mexico (6 months) and then in Venezuela.  I am currently living in Maracaibo, Estado Zulia, Venezuela, however, in two weeks (April 17, 2005) I will be moving back to the States.  To Tulsa, Oklahoma.  The political situation in Venezuela is getting too insecure.  It is not dangerous, but some of the laws being proposed if approved will help make Venezuela the next Cuba.
Well, how is that for a quick overview.  Hardly, does justice, but if you want to know more of my professional carreer you can view my resume (in English) in Microsoft Word format or you can e-mail me.
Click on this image for an enlargement.  This photo was taken in 1972 during my summer field camp days with Ohio University at Eureka, Nevada.  I was sitting at Devil's Gate (the name of the pass that separates the two hills, one of which I was sitting on...the other you can see behind me).  The hills are fault separated.  This is my favorite photo of myself (I don't have very many since I am usually the one taking the photos).  It represents the image I want to be remembered by when I am but a memory in the minds of those who know me.
