The BCST Bird Records Committee
A BCST Records Committee was established in August 2001 to review records of birds regularly and update the national avifauna list, to improve assessment of records of rare bird species and gather distribution information, and to keep abreast of changes in avian taxonomy and classification.
Aims and objectives
The primary function of the committee is to maintain an up-to date and authenticated list of birds for Thailand on behalf of the scientific and conservation community. Besides the assessment of new records, the committee will also keep abreast of changes in avian taxonomy and classification. While the committee's work focuses largely on those avifaunal records new for the Thai list, the committee will also be involved in assessing and reviewing records of scarcer species, and gathering distributional information. The committee publishes regular updates and announcements in the BCST bulletin, in addition to publishing a biennial bird report for Thailand.
