A Tribute:
To District Six statistician Dan Merrifield

Wrestling fans, teams and coaches knew him as the District Six statistician for high school wrestling in Pennsyvlania. For me, it was an honor that I knew Danny F. Merrifield as my father. Dan had been married to my mother for twenty-one wonderful years. He has been missed and always will be.

There were many busy wrestling nights that Dan would stay awake at the computer, hammering out scores and statistics until two or three o'clock in the morning.

One of many great memories that I have of my father is when he'd been nominated the Man Of The Year in 1997-98. He'd been very proud of his award.

As his time came for him to go back to God, my family and I knew how much pain he was in. It was all I could do not to break down as the final hours approached.

On March 15, 2001, at 12:05PM, my father passed away.

At my father's funeral there were a lot of family members, extended family members, fans of the District Six web page, coaches, and old family friends who'd come to pay their last respects to my father.

I'd like to personally thank each and every one of them from the very bottom of my heart.

My father had done what he'd loved best: District Six Wrestling.
