Here's a wonderful method I found in the book "Creative Puzzles Of The World" by Pieter van Delft and Jack Botermans.
Start with a 4x4 cube with the digits 1 - 16 in order:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 Then draw 2 diagonal lines from corner to corner. The digits on these lines will be reversed to solve the problem:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 Reverse the digits along the diagonals -- 1 and 16, 6 and 11, etc. This will give the solution:
16 2 3 13 5 11 10 8 9 7 6 12 4 14 15 1 Where every row, column and diagonal equal 34 (=136/4)!
