Psalm 16.10 |

|
because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption |
Because he saith also in another psalm, Thou wilt not give thy Holy One to see corruption |
For thou wilt not leave my soul to Sheol; Neither wilt thou suffer thy holy one to see corruption |
Comments: The LXX and the NT agree exactly, though Brenton’s translation differs from the ASV - choosing to use the word “suffer” instead of “give.” The RSV translates the end of Psalm 16.10 as “let thy godly one see the Pit.” The Hebrew word translated “corruption” or “the Pit” is shachath, meaning the state or place of corruption. |
