Kai h ceir twn marturwn estai ep autw en prwtoiV Qanatwsai auton, kai h ceir tou laou ep escatwn: kai exareiV

touV de exw o qeoV krinei,

And the hand of the witnesses shall be upon him among the first to put him to death, and the hand of the people at the last; so shalt thou remove the evil one from among yourselves |
But them that are without God judgeth. Put away the wicked man from among yourselves |
The hand of the witnesses shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people. So thou shalt put away the evil from the midst of thee |
Comments: The Septuagint and the NT differ only in that the NT employs a plural form of the verb, exarate . The MT is concerned with abstract “evil” while the Greek texts address “the evil one.” |
