LION OF
“WORSHIP IS A MYSTERY”

Every other Friday evening
I meet with a group of women at a local church. We spend the evening in joyous
worship. We began the evening by praying for
I saw a beautiful deep blue Star of David. It floated into my field of vision. As we prayed, it became encircled with a sparkling gold, braided hoop. The hoop sparkled and flashed in the light. Then the Star of David began to spin clockwise within the glistening gold hoop.
Then I saw multicolored worship hoops moving through the air by some unseen hands. They were red and green, purple and gold, blue and silver, and many other colors. The hoops were dancing through the air, reflecting light. What a wonderful site to see!
As the hoops disappeared, I saw two swords fencing with each other. They were silver and sharp—thrusting and defending, thrusting and defending. Soon I saw the hands that were holding the handles of the swords. Both were gloved. They were sparing. The fencing appeared competitive and vigorous. I watched the swords sparring for a couple of minutes.
Then the picture became larger and I saw that one fencer was dressed in white, the other in black. Both fencers wore face guards so that I was unable to see their faces or tell their sex. The black fencer began to thrust and spar in earnest and it was no longer a fun game, but a deadly one. The black fencer began to jab and thrust viciously. The white fencer just laughed, like the old TV programs of Zorro. Zorro usually laughed in joy as he fought off his opponents. The white dressed fencer did the same.
Then I saw more and more black dressed fighters sneak in from other rooms and join in the attack of the white fencer. He continued to laugh with derision at his opponents.
Then I saw worshipers with flags and hoops, dancing as the two sides fought. Their dance was unconstrained and abandoned. (The verses from II Samuel concerning David’s undignified worship before YAHWEH came to my mind as I watched the worshipers.)
The fencers dressed in black
kept trying to get around behind the single fencer dressed in white but were prevented
by some unseen force from doing so.
Then I saw why they were unable to make any headway. Heavenly hosts were
lined up behind the fencer, protecting his rear from attack. He/she was
having so much fun sparring with the enemy! The black dressed fencer
became frantic, calling in more and more fencers to join him.
Then I saw the Lion. He was watching the fencers, then watching the dancers. His head was turning back and forth, back and forth, watching one then the other.
As I looked carefully, I realized I was one of the dancers, with a green and gold hoop in one hand. The Lion approached me and I playfully placed the hoop with the green and gold streamers on his head. He chuckled, and I was relieved, as I suddenly felt very foolish
The room I was in became very still, as the presence of YAHWEH was so strong.
Then I saw dancers again, worshiping with all their hearts, dancing and twirling with hoops and flags and tambourines. We were dancing for joy in the spirit! It felt so good to worship in this way!
Then I saw a brand new, blue metallic mountain bike pulling a small, three wheeled, yellow trailer. The rider’s back was to me, so I was unable to see his/ her face. (The trailer it was pulling is similar to the trailers that many parents use to pull their small children when they are out bicycling.)
This trailer was not filled with children, but with worship hoops, flags, tambourines, etc. I only saw the back of the rider as she peddled with all her might swiftly up a mountain path. The rider was wearing a helmet, so I really could not see any recognizable features. The flags were whipping in the wind, the hoop tassels were flying, the tambourines were jingling. It was a very colorful site! The rider was peddling very fast, and was in excellent physical condition. The trail was steep and rocky, and I was exhausted just looking at the steepness of the terrain the bicyclist was effortlessly climbing.
The bike was followed by worshipers, dancing and twirling, leaping for joy as they, too, climbed the rocky mountain path.
Then the Lion followed the worshipers with me on his back.
As we neared the top of the path, I saw a dazzling golden light. I dismounted, and the Lion bowed before the light. I, too, fell on my face. I had a gold and red hoop in each hand. The gold streamers on the worship hoop fell foreword towards the light, as if an unseen power gently pulled them forward, away from me. As I prostrated before the golden light, I was covered gently with a white Israeli prayer shawl.
Then I saw the worshipers dancing before the light, and these words thundered:
IT IS A MYSTERY.
WORSHIP IS A MYSTERY.
WORSHIP IS A KEY THAT UNLOCKS MYSTERIES.
IT UNLOCKS DOORS INTO MY PRESENCE.
IT UNLEASHES ANGELIC HOSTS.
IT IS A MYSTERY.
And I saw an old, hammered iron cross slowly become an old-fashioned iron key. The ancient key began to turn clockwise, and I saw dazzling, golden light too bright to look into.
