A Song of the Beloved
Listen to me ladies
Daughters of the City of
and I will sing you a song
Let me sing of My Beloved
None fairer among men
Not like the other shade trees is He
Eyes if flaming golden silver fire
His garments are scented with the passions of the cross
Wine flows from His kiss
Glowingly incandescent
Delicate as the pure white Lily
Ravishing as the red, red Rose
Wreathed in thorns upon the wood I see the scars
Then the sun rises in His eyes blinding my heart
Oh ladies daughters of
the City of
I feign to swoon at the sound of His voice!
Many titles gave this blessed glorious Prince of loveliness.
King and Lord so truly faithful
But when I secret steps do come and under His garment lay
The heavens are unfolded to me
In His voice my fair Beloved
In His touch heavens breathe fire
In His eyes the universe peers into my soul
