Dakota Ojibway Police Service
Originally established as the Dakota Ojibway Tribal Council (DOTC) Police Department in 1977, the department now operates as the Dakota Ojibway Police Service.

As one of the longest operating First Nation Police Services in Canada, D.O.P.S. is a recognized stand-alone police agency located in southwestern Manitoba, providing policing services to the following First Nation communities:

Birdtail Sioux - south of Birtle, Manitoba
Canupawakpa Dakota - south of Virden, Manitoba
Roseau River - north of Emerson, Manitoba
Sioux Valley - northwest of Brandon, Manitoba
The D.O.P.S. investigates all major crimes, such as murders, aggravated & sexual assaults, in addition to enforcing all Federal & Provincial Statutes. Band By-laws, where applicable, are also enforced
