Historical/Regency Romance Reviews

Set in Regency England this Liz Carlyle tale has it all--Mystery/suspense and sizzling hot romance.

Captain Cole Amherst is called upon by his Uncle to spy on Jonet Rowland.  Jonet is recently widowed and left in charge of her two young sons and is suspected by many of having poisoned her own husband, causing his death.  Jonet's quest for a tutor for her sons brings Cole to her door at the request of her late husband's brother and who has co-guardianship of her sons.  There is no love lost between Jonet and Lord James Rowland.  Cole refuses to spy for James Rowland but he does agree to tutor the boys and takes up residence in Jonet's home.  He soon determines that something is very wrong in this household and sets out to get to the bottom of it while keeping Jonet and the boys safe from harm.

Jonet's mistrust of Cole soon changes to intense attraction and she decides to seduce him.  Cole is not one to have affairs casually and does not fall in with Jonet's plans as she had hoped.   Cole is sure that Jonet is having an affair with Young Lord Delacourt and despite his own attraction is determined not to get involved in a relationship with Jonet.  Who will be the victor? Cole or Jonet?

This book is highly Sensual and Liz Carlyle's talent for story telling brings us stong characters that will have you bond to your chair eager to read this book to the finish!  This book is a keeper for me--an intensly satisfying read that I will surely be reading again in the near future.  To learn more about Liz Carlyle and her books click on her name above to visit her website.

Rosamund was about to take the veil and live out her days as a servant of God in the very convent where she had been raised until the Kingher father commands that his illegitimate daughter marry a stranger.  Aric is just as reluctant as Rosamund to marry but neither are willing to defy the King and suffer the consequences.
Ignorant of the ways between men and women Rosamund is quickly given the basics of what takes place in a marriage bed by a nun who had plenty of advise about what not to do.  But what about what Rosamund should do?  Left with her overactive imagination to guide her Rosamund believes it will be no different than what she has witnessed taking place between the animals in the stables at the convent.
To Arics horror the King expects him to consummate the marriage mere minutes after the ceremony takes place and gives Aric all of 5 minutes to accomplish the deed.

Grab on to your seat and be prepared to laugh yourself silly as you read this very funny and charming story.  Rosamunds antics will keep you in stitches.  The story also has an element of mystery as it soon becomes apparent that someone is trying to harm or even kill Rosamund.  Aric does his best to protect his wife from the would-be killer while he enjoys the task of teaching his wife that love between a man and a woman need not resemble what takes place between animals in the stable.  Do yourself a favor and read this book!
