SKINNY PUPPY

By Bob

Sink deeper into my chair

There's a numbness in the air

Can't move the thoughts through my mind

Don't mind the heat, please pass the time

My feet stay rooted to the floor

Can't move can't feel nothing anymore

Can't remember the last time I could breathe

Don't know why I'm here, maybe I'll just leave

Whisper in my ear

Everything I wanted to hear

Hold it for me in your hand

Let me touch it let me see it

I can dream it but never feel it

I never lived always regretted

You took it from me so now I try to forget it

Always lonely never alone

You took the sun from my sky and you turned it to stone

Hold me under, won't let me go

And I can't breathe

The clock slows to a crawl

I think it knows I've got nothing left to do but burn

And smolder in my sorrow

With any luck I'll die and forget about to tomorrow

Because I know

What it brings

I've seen it all before

Another chance to right the wrong

A new beginning to another sad song

I saw it coming but couldn't avoid it

Cause it's to late

Starry-eyed but terrified

Cause they can't decide which wave to ride

The sea is cold and the tide is high

But the genocide left them dumb inside

So they live by the rules of the only book they've known

Till they're swallowed by the sea and drenched to the bone

And they never found a meaning on their yellow brick road

It's just an ending to a story they were never told

UNTITILED

By Bob

Have you ever sat by the fire on a cold December

Well I used to all the time but I can't really remember

What I saw when I looked out the window at the world

But you know that's probably for the best

Cause every time I'm reminded of the times that I tried

I'm another dollar short and a light year behind

Where I was just because there's nowhere else I can go

But I could swear the winter nights were never this cold

The road's always longer

When the signs say you're going the wrong way

But if you try to swim upstream

You won't get swept away

Cause there's no rest for the weary

No sleep for the dreary-eyed

The losers will never win

And the babies will always cry

When every turn in the road

Leaves the sun shining in your eyes

You gotta look at the life you live and then you'll know

You gotta make it in this world alone

Watch the clouds roll in as they cover the sky

Bleeding all their sadness puts a tear in your eye

Could've stopped raining but they saw you crying

Don't want you to know that the sun's still shining

So take a toke, let it soak, it's the only way to see

It's not what you think, but what you believe

So remember when the time comes don't look down

Just see the sun shining through the clouds

BUSH WHACKER

By Bob

Swim in a sea

Of myth and make-believe

Dive into the melting pot

And try not to sink too deep

Take a walk in a world where wonderful things

Are forgotten every day

The people think as one and the One thinks for the people

And hides all their problems away

Watch what you say cause dissent is treason

The ruler of our world gives us crime without a reason

Questions and skeptics just slide right off his back

And the polls tell us he's here to stay

Don't question what is wrong

Cause God is on his side

He'll conquer at all costs

Cause he always knows what's right

How much longer will you let him hide

Behind McVeigh's, Bin Laden's and Husseins

His patriotic, democratic promises

Will only end in pain

In this land of the free and home of the brave

The people can do as they choose

They can say what they think and they can say what they feel

But somehow they never really do

This world is full of fairness

With liberty and justice for all

But it's harder than it sounds when based on the grounds

That there's really no rules at all

UNTITLED 2

By Bob

Too scared to live

But you're afraid to die

Too worried to laugh

To proud to cry

Too scared to sleep, too scared to awaken

You're cold and you're empty cuase your mind's been forsaken

You float through your life always looking over your shoulder

You shiver and you shake but your warm clothes just make you colder

Wake up

Why can't you see

That the meaning of live

Starts with being free

From irrational fears of change and alienation

True strength you won't find in numbers

You'll find it in the vein

In the bone

You'll find it burning in your heart when you're afraid to be alone

It's a chill

Down your spine

When you're repremanded for marching out of time

UNTITLED 3

By Bob

Swirls of blacks and blues and grays

Send chills down your spine

You never thought a picture could scare you

Like a cold gust of wind your hair stands on end

You shudder for a moment and turn away

But the picture doesn't disappear

And it burns behind your eyes

So you clench your fists and turn around

And paint it over red

So you're happy now and comforted

And feel warm again inside

But the cold breeze that scared you

Still blows

It's the power of the optimist

Master of situational alchemy

The power of the optimist

To paint over that to which he can't agree

Every problem he encounters

He'll change how it appears

And the way it looks till it fits the books

Of the rules he must adhere

"See, we love -- we love freedom. That's what they didn't understand. They hate things - we love things. They act out of hatred, we don't seek revenge, we seek justice out of love." President Bush, Oklahoma City, Aug. 29, 2002
