17.06.00 ICMP Router Discovery Protocol - IRDP - IRDP is defined as a proposed standard in Request For Comment (RFC) 1256. Its sole function is to advertise IP addresses for routers on a LAN. Properly configured hosts then can use these addresses as default routes in their routing tables. If the default router ever changes, the hosts automatically adjust their default routes. |
