Primetime Jam: The Story
In the year 1996 after the breakthrough 1st Anniversary of Radio 1 (The show which airs on Saturdays from 8-10PM on Monster Radio RX 93.1) has announced a long line-up for student jocks, who are scheduled to go on-air for the next two months. And one of those set to have the show during the summer is none other than Mark Cerbo (AMACC, Makati), who was originally planned to be paired with Karen Liquete (UA&P student). Unfortunately KC Liquete was no longer available at that time, because she already left Radio1. At that time Mary Ann Miranda was taking her first boardwork on-air on the 2nd week of April 1996, and little less known to Mark & Ann would be paired together. Mary Ann Miranda student of St. Paul College, Manila was the latest addition to the growing Radio1 family. This is a first for Mark going on-air with a partner and thus the show would be known as Primetime Jam.
So what is Primetime Jam? Basically the show's concept was to promote "good feel party music", which was Mark's original idea at that time. He was hooked on R&B, Alternative, and the usual bubblegum pop. Not only it has the its concept with regards to music, but also originally aired once a year in the month of May which is his Birthday month. The original show was aired on May 25, 1996 on the 2nd hour of Radio1 (9-10PM). The Primetime Jam show did not end there, which has spawned four more aired shows until Mark's last one going solo on April 10, 1999.
Today a few people formerly with Radio1 still remembers Primetime Jam as one of the original concept shows aired on RX 93.1's Radio1 show. Primetime Jam is a show within the (Radio1) show by itself, and today its still a show about concept and experimentation. Its about what's in and the latest trends in the music culture. Thats all about Primetime Jam and much more...
