*-little things- that make me think -life rocks-*

July 2001

Ahhh...yes...one of the BETTER days of the Life Rox series -- if that's possible. I planned to leave for the Warped Tour at 10 a.m., and fortunately, was running late. At 10:30 a.m., I received a call telling me that I had been approved for free tickets and press passes to the Tour. I was squealing in delight.
JC and I got there at 1 p.m., and had some trouble getting the passes. We weren't on the VIP list, but they eventually found our names because, mind you, we were on the Press list for interviews. More squealing took place.
We finally "checked in" at the media area, then met the members of "Pie Tasters," a local ska band. They gave us refreshments and we just chilled with them in the couches backstage for an hour or so. I was, as you might say, slightly buzzed, when I saw Joel and Benji from *Good Charlotte*. Naturally, I approached and introduced myself. Oh yes. Yes, that I did!
At 4 p.m., we took the back way and watched GC from the side of the stage. At 5, we waited for our interview to start, but were sidetracked by BMX rider Rick Thorne. We chatted, and he signed my Mat Hoffman BMX Gameboy game and some postcards. I told him I wanted to ride and he said that it would be awesome. RICK THORNE advised I ride. Rick Thorne.
Okay, so the interview took place. We had Dusty, the new drummer to ourselves. How COOL is this already?!? I found out all this cool info -- check it out at AMZ. Then I got the whole band to sign my CD and Joel came to talk to us too. We took a bunch of pictures. I don't think that the happiness I felt can be aptly expressed with words.
We finished. We watched bands, joined the outside world, ate, and did "regular stuff." I had forgotten what that was, being that everywhere we turned, someone from a band was saying hi. They're all so nice. It's just the guards who are so mean. We walked around and talked to guys from "Rehab," "Alien Ant Farm," and others...
We left at 9 p.m., but a friend called and told me to go back and join the evening festivities. We did, and we went to the barbeque with all the bands. Everyone was just outside talking, drinking, riding, eating, and watching fireworks. How cool is that? We met more people from "The Ataris" and hung out inside "The Vandals'" tour bus. We also talked to Joel and Dusty again. (Dusty is supposed to give me drum lessons... but SHHHH!) Okay, yeah... So then we were so tired and decided to get going. Had we not had work the next day, we would've stayed -- after all, they invited us to go with them to more stops for the Warped Tour. It would be nice...
I complained to Joel that I was tired, and he scoffed, saying that he does that everyday. It's so cool. He's so cool. He likes Filipino girls...hehehe...
Okay, okay, I'm ending this. (Although there are a lot of other COOL stuf I should mention - like meeting producers and the creator of the Warped Tour himself; and seeing "AFI" members playing Slide). ANYWAY, we made our last rounds and said bye. Rick Thorne, whose wife is Filipino, remembered me and told me that I better say hi to him at X-Games...and asked for a hug. What the?!? It was all just cool, ok? Just trust me...

Today, I drove over railroad tracks and couldn't think of anything to wish for... Oh, and did I mention I love my JOBS?!? My editor just told me that if I want to go to a concert, I can let him know and he'll get me 2 free tickets plus press passes. Yeah?

2) I finished my first four AMZ reviews and am ready for the next shipment.
3) I was approved as a contributing writer to an online skate magazine (TBA) and an online BMX magazine (TBA).
4) Other 'life rox-type' stuff that cannot be printed on this site. Just know that I'm glad... and stop being NOSY!

OOOOH... I am writing this at 12:50am... four hours... Anyway, I went to the Area One concert today at Merriweather Post Pavilion. We got there at 3pm, but I couldn't get a press pass. We saw Nelly Furtado (she ran up and sang about a foot away from us), The Roots with Kelis, INCUBUS , Outkast (Bombs Over Baghdad was so "YEEA!"), and Moby. Yeah, Moby was there...so they say. I don't ever want to forget it - if only I can remember...

*MADDD props to JC, Yong, and Tanner for being the coolest... and also the hurdle-picture-lady, p* galore couple, and the red tank top guy. He SO rocked!
*Here's to the night...

-My first two CD reviews are up on the AMZ Music Reviewer webpage. Under "New Releases" is Mandy Moore and under "Rap" is Cappadonna.
-Also, if you go to EXPN's website and look at the picture gallery from Woodward, PA, you can see me behind Tony Hawk. (I'm behind the "e" in the Snapple sign.)

*Otherwise, as you may have noticed, life hasn't rocked as much lately...but I'm trying...

*back to LIFE ROX!*
