Mercedes has experienced a lot in her little 3 years. As a baby with breathing problems, she was hospitalized 8 times in the 1st year of her life. She didn't reach any of her baby milestones on time. In fact, by the time she was 1 year old, she didn't walk or sit up or digest food easily. It took her 12 whole months to weigh 10 lbs, and even now, at 3, she only weighs 23 lbs. But like clockwork right after her 1st birthday, she began to crawl, sit up, walk and eat. She began to say words and she wasn't really that sick anymore! It was a miracle! All the praying everyone had done for her worked! Now Cerebral Palsy is brain damage, so it is medically impossible for anyone with this diagnosis to improve. But Matthew 19:26 says "With God ALL things Are possible"
These days Mercedes is a normal healthy 3 year old who makes her mother pull her hair out somedays! lol She is SO attached to me! I guess it's because I stayed home with her and nursed her for so long, but wherever you can find me, you can probably bet that Mercedes will be there too. |
