This Is the album that started it all. The album that started Kurt Cobain on the road to fame, rock superstar status, and, eventually suicide. It is full of the sound of the early grunge movement. Powerchords surge from the guitars of Cobain and Everman with scant regard for a world that wasn't prepared for the onslaught of grunge. Cobains doleful, abstract, self examinatory lyrics meander in and out of the brilliant, while remaining as a focus for the raw energy provided by the music. These songs were never overplayed by radio as this album never broke the commercial music scene, but it remains a testimony to the product of a grunge scene created by bands like Sonic Youth, and contains rock songs that do justify as their later output did, Nirvana's status as legends of Rock.
