Entry for September 15, 2006
I must share our evening. We had a small birthday party for my dad who turned 85 last Friday. Marino's on Mahoning Avenue in Austintown was an ideal place because of their delicious Italian food. Anna, the owner makes all of her food and you can really appreciate the quality and quantity of what you get. It was amazing that sitting at the table was my dad who was 85; my mom who is 87; Mrs. Zink who is 93 and my aunt Angie who I believe is 96 or maybe even a little older. But by today's standards they all looked atleast 10 to 15 years younger than their actual ages. My dad for an example doesn't even look like he was turning 75 let alone 85. I hope that when I get their ages that I will look as great as all of them. We had a could chose between chicken parm or eggplant parm. All was delicous and great quantity of all also. We had much more with appetizers, etc and by the end of the night I was so full that I could not breath. Hunter came home with us since Heather and Charley are leaving on their annual bus trip to New York. Jordan's mom Charlene has a bus tour company and takes them. Charley really enjoys herself and gets to help Grammy with different things on the bus. She looks to forward to going. I will share after she gets back what all they did. Jay is also leaving for Ohio State this Saturday am. Michael is taking him down. And will return on Monday. I am sure it is hard for both Michael and Lib and Jay's mom Thelma and his stepdad Mike. Jay has been a big help to both sets of family. We plan on going down sometime in the future but not during family weekend. Too crazy. Dear Lord, Please guide me each day to do Your will. Give me patience, do not make me bitter or nasty, let me thing before I do or say something that will upset You and the ones that I love so dearly. Amen. Today's reading: Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in Your law. He opened their minds to understand these many Scriptures. Then He explained to them, "You have been permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, but others have not." Then Jesus prayed this prayer: "O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank You for hiding the truth from those who think themselves so wise and clever, and for revealing it to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased You to do it this way! And, God has acturally given us His Spirit (not the world's spirit) so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God! They are innumberable! I can't even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up in the morning, You are still with me! Oh, what a wonderful God we have! How great are His riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand His decisions and His methods! For who can know what the Lord is thinking? Who knows enough to be his counselor? For everything comes from Him; everything exists because of His power and is intended for His glory. To Him be glory evermore. Amen. Have you ever wondered how to understand a difficult Bible passage? Besides reading surrounding passages, asking other people, and consulting reference works, pray that the Holy Spirit will open your mind to understand, giving you the needed insight to put God's Word into action in your life.
