Entry for September 11, 2006

We must remember in our prayers all of the family members from those who died in 911.  How strong these families have to be.  They need to always be remembered in our prayers.

Charlie said that Hunter and Charley both had good games on Sunday.  Jay is leaving for Ohio State on Saturday am; and Mike and Libbe had a going away get together for him.  He seems like he is ready to go.  And, Jess too.  Mike is going down on Saturday am with him and his mom and stepdad are going down on Sunday with the remainder of his items.  He is a great young man and he should make both of his families so proud.

Dear Lord, Please guide me each day to do Your will.  Give me patience, do not make me bitter or nasty, let me think before I say or do something that will upset You and also the ones that I love so dearly.  Amen.

Today's reading:  I, even I, am the one who comforts you.  All praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.  He is the source of every mercy and the God who comforts us.  He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.  When others are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.  The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him.  For He knows how weak we are; He knows we are only dust.  I will comfort you there as a child is comforted by its mother.  Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about what happens to you.  But You, O Lord, are a merciful and gracious God, slow to get angry, full of unfailing love and truth.  He will give you another Counselor....the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth.  The Holy Spirit helps us in our distress.  He will remove all of their sorrows, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain.  For the old world and its evils are gone forever.  Many think that when God comforts us, our troubles should go away.  But being "comforted" can also mean receiving strength, encouragement, and hope to deal with our troubles.  The more we suffer, the more comfort God gives us.  If you are feeling overwhelmed, allow God to comfort you.         LAB note for 2 Corinthians 1:3-5.
