Entry for August 26, 2006
Dear Lord, Please guide me each day to do Your will. Give me patience, do not make me bitter or nasty, let me think before I do something that will upset You. Amen. Today's reading: Those who trust the Lord will be happy. Abraham never wavered in believing God's promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was absolutely convinced that God was able to do anything He promised. Judah defeated Isreal because they trusted in the Lord, the God of their ancestors. God is our refuge and strenght, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear, even if earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. It is better to trust the Lord than to put confidence in princes. The steps of the godly are directed by the Lord. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will not fall, for the Lord hold them by the hand. Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who trust in Him! Let the Lord's people show Him reverence, for those who honor Him will have all they need. "Taste and see" does not mean "check out God's credentials." Instead, it is a warm invitiation: "Try this: I know you'll like it." When we take that first step of obedience in following God, we cannot help discovering that He is good and kind.
