Today's reading: There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death. Trusting oneself is foolish, but those who walk in wisdom are safe. Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. I have followed Your commands, which have kept me from going along with cruel and evil people. Suppose there are prophets among you, or those who have dreams about the future, and they promise you signs or miracles, and the predicted signs or miracles take place. If the prophets then say, "Come, let us worship the gods of foreign nations," do not listen to them. The Lord your God is testing you to see if you love Him with all your heart and soul. Serve only the Lord your God and fear Him alone. Obey His commands, liten to His voice, and cling to Him. The Lord says, "I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. Do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control." Many sorrows come to the wicked, but unfailing love surrounds those who trust the Lord. So rejoice in the Lord and be glad, all you who obey Him! Shout for joy, all you whose hearts are pure! The "path......that seems right" may offer many options and require few sacrifices. But easy choices merit a second look. Is this solution attractive because it allows you to be lazy or not change your lifestyle? Because it requires no moral restraints? The right choice often requires hard work and self-sacrifice.
