Entry for August 14, 2006
Here we go....back to Monday. This past weekend was pretty nice. Enjoyed everyday of it. On Friday, I did nothing. But, Charlie was busy, he cut down two pine trees in our back yard. Today he plans on sawing the trunk so we have wood to burn in the winter. We got up early Saturday morning to look for a saw for him. Also, on Saturday, my Aunt Mary from Akron celebrated her 90th birthday. This is my dad's sister. It was nice to see some of the relatives we haven seen for years. The worst part is seeing how all of us are getting older and older. We went to a German restaurant in Canton. The food was great....my cousin Cookie did a great job with picking this restaurant. On Sunday, mom and I made zucchine bread again. We have this down pat. She does all the dry ingredients, my dad grates the zucchini, and I do the wet ingredients and the mixing. Sure is good. Charlie took Charley and Hunter to the Knights of Columbus fishing derby at father's pond at St. Paul's. They did do all that great; but they had a good time. And, that is what counts. They then came back to the house and Hunter got to saw off some of the limbs. Dear Lord, Please guide me each day to do Your will. Give me patience, do not make me bitter or nasty, let me think before I do something that will upset You. Amen. Todays reading: The joy of the Lord is your strength. Sing for joy, O heavens! Rejoice, O earth! Burst into song, O mountains! For the Lord has comforted His people and will have compassion on them in their sorrow. God has come to save me. I will trust in Him and not be afraid. The Lord God is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation. The Lord is my strength, my shield from every danger. I trust in Hijm with all my heart. He helps me and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. Now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God---all because of what our Lord Jesus Christ had done for us in making us friends of God. Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vine; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the LORD! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation. The Sovereign Lord is my strength! He will make me as surefooted as a deer and bring me safely over the mountains. Celebration is not to be self-centered (just when we feel like it). Often when we celebrate and give to others (even when we don't feel like it). we are strengthened spiritually and filled with joy. Enter into celebrations that honor God and allow Him to fill you with His joy! LAB note for Nehemiah 8:9-10 2006-08-14 11:54:08 GMT
