Entry for October 2, 2006
What a wonderful weekend we had. Friday we went down the club for the evening. We had not been there for a number of weeks and it was nice to get out. I got home from work early and found Charlie working on his home at home. Saturday we went for a wonderful ride. Did some more shopping for his home at home. Got the electrical items. We decided to go back to the 2 Tomatoes in New Castle. This was the restaurant that Jordan's parents had the rehearsal dinner. The food was absolutely delicious. What an improvement from Caffe Capri in Boardman. I don't know how anyone can eat in Caffe Capri. Especially when New Castle isn't that far away and the food is 100% better. Got back home to watch the Ohio State game. What a wonderful game. My mom got tipsy drinking wine after each touchdown. In fact she slept pass the time we get up to go to Mass on Sunday. It also rained and rained. There was thundering and lightening. And, then Sunday we woke up to a beautiful day. Jordan and Hunter came home from the Monster Truck show that they went to. Everything was great for them. Hunter had a wonderful time. Charley played soccer in Poland. It was not a good game. The girls have not been successful in winning games. For some reason they were put into a class competing against older girls and girls who travel all year. For our girls it just wasn't the thing to do. But, they really, really try. Today is back to work. I thought for sure I would have been retired by now; but it seems like we are going to be here for the month of October. I am not sure might even be here into November and December. Dear Lord, Please help me not be nasty to the ones that I love so very much. Help me to bite my tongue rather than hurt any of them. Give me the strength to be a good person. Please stay at my side just in case I need you to help me remember why I have been put on this earth. Amen Today's reading: Never be lazy in your work, but serve the Lord enthusiastically. Whatever you do, do well. For when you go to the grave, there will be no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom. Work hard and cheerfully at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and the Master you are serving is Christ. Remember that the Lord will reward each one of us for the good we do. All of us must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent me, because there is little time before the night falls and all work comes to an end. So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Doing this, you will never stumble or fall away. Our great desire is that you will keep right on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true. Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God's promises because of their faith and patience. Run in such a way that you will win. Considering the uncertainties of the furture and the certainty of death, Solomon recommends enjoying life as God's gift. He may have been criticizing those who put off all present pleasures in order to accumulate wealth, much like those who get caught up in today's rat race. Enjoy God's gifts while you are able!
