Entry for September 30, 2006
Today's reading: The Coming One will come and not delay. Write my answer in large, clear letters on a tablet, so that a runner can read it and everyone else. But these things I plan won't happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed. You must not forget, dear friends, that a day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn't really being slow about His promise to return, as some people think. No, He is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to perish, so He is giving more time for everyone to repent. You, O Lord, are a merciful and gracious God, slow to get angry, full of unfailing love and truth. Oh, that you would burst from the heavens and come down! How the mountains would quake in Your presence! For since the world began, no ear has heard, and no eye as seen a God like You, who works for those who wait for Him! It isn't easy to be patient when evil and injustice seem to have the upper hand in the world. But it helps to remember that God hates sin even more than we do. Punishment of sin will certainly come. We must wait patiently, trusting God even when we don't understand why events occur as they do. LAB note for Habakkuk 2:3. 2006-09-29 12:37:09 GMT
