I created Wikipedia entries for Mary Quigley and the roof rat. You guys have more intimate knowledge of events so please feel free to update it if you like. Wikipedia is very particular about copyrights and I have no public domain picture of Ms Quigley to attach. The yearbook picture looks nice but I have no knowledge of its ownership.

I'm a H.S. class of '77, but I moved to California in 1981 from NJ, well after this event. A very similar case to this happened approximately the same time near my home town in NJ.
