I have an older sister who attended Santa Clara High during that time and I always remember hearing about Mary's tragic story. I'm glad to hear there will be something positive done with that area and hope they honor Mary's memory by naming the park after her.

As the war memorial at Kiely Park reminds the elderly, educates the young and commemorates all about the sacrificed lives and deaths of men and women who fought for our country in an actual war, let the "Mary Elizabeth Quigley Park" be a reminder to all of how special life is and not to take our families, friends and community for granted. Also that some tragedies are never forgotten, just lived with. People will "live with" this park next to their home, on their way from work. Let it be a
living, growing reminder for the elderly and young alike how special life truly is.

Wars are bad we don't need reminders of any kind of war, however, we should honor the fallen not the wars!!!!
