Van der Vijver Estate, 2002 Sangiovese

I would not describe this wine as powerful, nor would I have ever guessed it was made from the brunello clone, but it is delicious nonetheless!  What this wine lacks in complexity, it makes up for in gulpability.  A friend of the winemaker led me to this easy quaffer and my supply is quickly dwindling.  Fresh (very fresh) raspberries on the nose carry over to the palate with  juicy wild strawberry notes and an ever so slight herbaceous quality.  Brisk acidity makes it light, lively, and so easy to drink.   Don't overthink this one, just enjoy with Spaghetti Alla Caprese!
