That, my friends, is  a New Zealand police officer's helper -- a speed camera!  They are located conveniently throughout the country in the hopes of catching speeders.  Of which -- you guessed it! -- I (Susie) am one of them!  Within my first week of driving in NZ, I received not one, but TWO, speeding tickets!  = ) 

The speed limit here throughout the city, unless you are on the freeway, but even if you are on what we would call highways or parkways, is 50 kph...which I guess is somewhere near 30mph.  Way too slow for this girl!  Well, actually, now it's not....I got a friendly reminder from the NZ Police to SLOW DOWN!  = )
