Entry for April 30, 2007 Creationism vs. Evolution coming soon!
Been reading a lot about Intelligent Design lately - have come up with a couple of realizations, and a couple of questions. 1. No one can prove scientifically that there is no God, and that He did not create the universe. They can only debate the method and the timeline. 2. No one can prove scientifically that there is a God, and that he created universe. They can only debate the method and the timeline. Creationists, Global Flood Geologists, Recolonizationists, Evolutionists, Big Bang Cosmologists etc. all begin their research with presuppositions, and devote all their time and energy to making the pieces fit into their theory of choice. So I ask these questions - 1. From a religious point of view, is it necessary to explain the act of creation in scientific terms and chronology? 2. If the answer is no, then why reject evolution out of hand, and attempt to discredit a theory (of evolution) that has no bearing on your faith? Why not say that God created the universe and everything in it using evolution as one of the mechanisms? Why is it difficult to accept that it may be possible that God rested on the seventh day to let nature do the rest? 3. If the answer is yes, is it because a scientific understanding of creation seemingly at odds with the Bible is threatening to your faith? My own belief is that in the grand scheme of things, the "how" of creation is unimportant. Rather, it is the "why" that is critical. The universe was created so that man could exist to love God. That's why the first two chapters of the Bible talk about the creation, and all the rest talk about mankind and his relationship with the Creator. I am posting this entry both as a prelude for others to follow on this topic, and as a record of my beliefs on the subject before really delving into it wholeheartedly. It will be interesting to see if my opinions are modified in any meaningful way as I research... 2007-05-01 03:30:34 GMT

I would preface your "why" whith "Who" without God being the author the "Why" has not connection to Him. The "Who" of creation brings into focus our purpose in all of creation. Great thinking and expressing your thoughts.

Good point. However, it goes in circles - what good is "who" if He has no reason?
