Entry for April 27, 2007: The real tragedy of the Modern Era

Abortion - According to the Guttmacher Institute, 1.29 million babies are aborted every year in the United States.  Every death supposedly justified by the constitutional Right to Privacy, as written in the majority opinion authored by Supreme Court Justice Blackmun in Roe vs. Wade.

The killing of the unborn is the true tragedy of the modern era, more sickening than the Holocaust or any other genocidal action of the last 1000 yrs.  The fact that Western Civilization has devolved into such a morally relativistic state of mind that infanticide can be rationalized until it is acceptable, endorsed, and even encouraged by individuals, governments, and even denominations of the Christian faith, is incomprehensible.

According to the Institute, nearly 50% of all pregnancies in the United States are unwanted or unplanned, and nearly 50% of all unwanted/unplanned pregnancies end with an abortion.  So you can say that nearly one quarter of all pregancies in the U.S. end in abortion.

Sorry folks, the science is irrefutable, that thing in there is a baby.  Not a dog or a fish or a bush.  Even if it has 24 cells and has no heartbeat or brain there is only one thing it can become - a person.  Argue all you want that it is not human until it can feel, the bottom line is that by aborting it you are taking the life that it is destined to become.  And the life that it will become has the same rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness that you do.

A fetus is not a lump of tissue - from the moment of conception it is an individual, with its own DNA, and the need for nutrition separate from the nutrition processed for the mothers well-being.  And in most cases even a different blood type than the mother.

Abortion is murder, and there can not be compromise on this issue.  No one has the right to take the life of their own child.  It is time to bring abortion back to the forefront of the national conciousness.  Force our politicians to stand on one side of the issue or the other and demand that the constitution be amended to protect the lives of the unborn.

You have said it well, clearly and with passion. I wonder, at times, as God silently watches, what is in our corporate forecast as a nation and as individual created by Him.

Hey,
on the abortion thing- my thoughts are like yours but the real thing about it is how the lie of womens rights-
I mean think about it- you tell a guy that its his right to cut off his testicles- or his left ear- his body- his choice- how stupid!
the real fact about is there are some men (not women) that want women to get abortions- they want to control them- if you say a women is no longer valuble because she can do what no man can do (have a baby) and she is now worth something because she is now less than she was by not being able to have a baby- the whole thing is stupid- to have women think there worth more by working harder- they should be taken care of, charished and loved-not slaves to consumerism-
I more to say about that, but I need to tuck my two awesome kids in- what a blessing.

peace to you
