I've been tutoring for as long as I can remember. I graduated from Lincoln High School (San Jose, CA) in 2000. In 2005, I graduated from University of California, Santa Barbara, with a BA in English. While I was there, I was a peer tutor, as well as a researcher for the Early Modern Center's Ballad Project. In 2004, I received the Keith E. Vineyard Honorary Scholarship for Creative Writing, and was published twice in UCSB's 2005 Catalyst.

After graduating from UCSB, I went back to San Jose City College to work as a writing tutor in the school's Learning Resource Center, headed by Michelle Blair. There, I tutored students from various backgrounds in courses ranging from entry-level ESL classes through transfer-level composition classes. At that point, I also became a private tutor for local high school students.

When I moved to San Diego, I worked as a substitute teacher for San Diego City Schools, and as a private tutor for students ranging from ages 6-adult. I then worked for roughly 1.5 years at Springall Academy, a K-12 school for students with special needs.
My main work with students involves basic writing mechanics, paragraph structure, essay formats, SAT prep, creative writing, and preparing for timed writings (how to understand prompts; how to outline; how to manage your time during a timed writing).
On the reading end of things, I work with students on building basic to advanced reading skills in areas such as Reading Comprehension, inference-making, critical/analytical reading skills, etc.
I work with first graders through grad students and professionals.
