[ ADMINS ]This page will list some information about the staff members that make Monolith possible. Please don't bother these people as every second they talk to you is 1 less second they spend on Monolith related things.
Ahbeyra / KhellendrosThis is the 'big-cheese' the 'head-hancho' the.. o darn. He's the guy in charge. He's taken the original SMAUG code-base and altered it so much it's not ANYTHING like smaug anymore. He's the one you should thank for Monolith's existance.
TOP
SlayerdlThe man of many talents. He contributes to Monolith by adding new items, areas, NPCs and generally makes stuff for Monolith's expansion. If you see a typo in a room-description, it's all his fault!
TOP
KelemorMuch like Slayerdl Kelemor does various things. He's the most social of the immortals when it comes to the players and is generally helpful with questions regarding game-play.
TOP
GinaGina just kinda keeps an eye on things, makes sure that no one is being to rude over public-channels and makes sure that no one is found herrassing other players or just generally being against the general Nature of Monolith players.
TOP
IshanLike Gina Ishan is a Moderator, he watches over Monolith to make sure that everyone is playing nicely and that no one is breaking any rules.

[ HELP! ]This section is aimed at answering some of the more common questions about Monolith, or Mud gaming in general.
[ CREATING A CHARACTER ]Creating a character is required before you can start playing Monolith, this might be obvious, but I'm sure alot of people have forgotten this fast and easy requirement to play Monolith.
The first step in creating a character is all in your mind, we recommend that you first decide on the type of character you wish to have in the game.. An adventurous strong character, agile but weak, smart but weak... these are all questions that you'll need to ask yourself if you want to create the most effective character for your playing style.
If you have previous RolePlay experience then your Character Creation should be rather simple as you know what you want..
Another thinking-step is your name and password. Creating a name isn't the hardest thing in the world but Monolith does have some rules when it comes to choosing a name...
- No Referencing in-game objects (NPCs, Items, Area...)
- No Profanity or Obscene names, not even that imply profanity
- Keep it related, don't just choose a random name, make sure it's atleast pronouncable.
Once you decided on a name you need to choose a password for your character, DO NOT MAKE IT SIMPLE, but make it simple enough for your to remember. I recommend using a combination of numbers and letters to make it even more difficult for others to access your account. WE ARE NOT RESPONCIBLE IF YOUR CHARACTER GETS HACKED.
Beyond that you'll need to choose a race for your character. The race of your character will judge how it gains experience, and what stats are easier to raise than others..
It is possible to make a Strong Wrak, and a Smart Arnovore, but it's alot easier to know ahead of time your desires from your character so your race fits it.
Here is a list of the races and some important information.
- Arnovore - Good warriors/strength, have the highest Physical to Mental exp-ratio of all the races. They gain mental-exp slower than physical exp and thier physical stats are easier to raise than thier mental stats.
- Dasosky - Good Paladin/some magic, have a slight edge on Physical exp over mental, they raise physical stats slightly faster, but also have the needed stats for spell-casting and magical powers.
- Ethalid - Good Rogue/Healer, have a slight edge on Mental exp over physical, they raise mental stats slightly faster than mental, but also have the physical stats needed to fight well with conventional weaponry.
- Volaem - Well-Rounded/General, Have an even Mental to Physical exp-ratio. They are the race to choose if your uncertain or worried you may change your mind. In the long-game they race faster than most races, but in lower-levels they are more challenging.
- Wrak - Good Mages/Spellcasters, have the highest Mental to Physical exp-ratio of all the races. They gain mental exp faster than physical exp and thier mental stats are faster to raise than thier physical stats.
The above, and your sex (if you need help on sex, please just.. stay still). Are all you need to do to create a Character to adventure the world of Monolith with.

| CR | Corpse Retrieval, when you die you have 15 minutes to get back to your corpse before it, and all your items are gone for-ever. Sometimes it's impossible to make it back to your corpse and asking for a CR may get a responce from a player to help you get back to your corpse. |
| camp | Staying in 1 room and killing the same NPC over and over is considered camping, it's the most effective way of gaining experience, but it's the least fun. This is a game, have fun! |

[ GENERAL ADVICE ]This section is just a list of some general tips and advice to keep in mind while playing Monolith, none of these are rules or requirements.. Just showing our love of having people enjoy themselves on Monolith.
- NEVER give out your password unless your ready to lose that character. You can trust friends, but you can't trust text.
- Understand that offline the immortals are as human as you and have limited time to spend on Monolith. Don't be grumpy at them without good reasoning.
- Letting someone 'borrow' or 'use' and item can lead to the loss of it completely, immortals WILL NOT replace items, no matter what.
- Shouting costs 15 turns, thats 2-rounds of attacks. Think of the EXP you can gain instead of shouting, try tells or saying something.
- Everyone is different, just because they like high strength and you like well-rounded isn't a reason to not be friends with them
- Help newbies when you can, they are the future of this game and in the same position as you USED to be so keep in mind they are wanting to help Monolith grow as much as you are
- If someone wishes to buy an item from you use the 'auction' command, giving them the item doesn't promise they will pay you what they owe, same in reverse.
- Experiment with items/weapons instead of trusting other people, some people will tell you 1 item is no good so you'll lower your selling price for them to snatch it
- Give everyone respect until they prove themselves not worthy, never just dislike someone just for fun, this is a game, hatred is no fun for anyone.
- If you have a personal problem with a player please use tells to discuss a solution and not shouts, this helps everyone and the games lag
- If you need help, ask players before anyone else. Immortals don't even play the game, so players should be more helpful anyway.
- Never take anyones word that they are an admin until they can either prove it or are listed in the admins section of this web-site. Asking 'admins' to voice you to prove it is a good way to see the truth.
- Be friendly, if your an anti-social character and need help, people may not know you enough to want to help you. Talking is encouraged as it builds comrodery and teamwork
