C'mon you lazy gold lump! We're already late for our lessons! Zulyeva commanded. How was she ever going to control her queen when it really counted if she coudln't even make the willful little dragon attend lessons?
Extra lessons, Atarikath reminded her rider drowsily. Which I'm sure will start late anyway because there are only two weyrlings who have to endure extra lessons, and I'm sure they're tired too.
Today's normal weyrling lessons, Zulyeva had to admit, had been tiring for all the weyrlings, dragon and human. Still, we should be on time. The extra lessons are very important, you know.
Atarikath snorted. Maybe to you, but it's all stuff I already know. I don't need someone to tell me what to do when I rise.
Whether you think you need it or not, we still have to go, and we have to leave now if we don't want to be any later than we already are, Zulyeva told her dragon.
Muttering something about perfectionists, Atarikath slowly got to her feet and stretched. Zulyeva watched her dragon proudly, noting how much she had grown since she had Hatched and how the awkwardness of weyrlinghood was already starting to give way to the grace of adult dragons.
I am beautiful aren't I? Atarikath asked, dragon-grinning as she "listened" to her rider's thoughts. And I'm only going to get bigger and more beautiful.
Zulyeva chuckled. A little bit vain, are we?
Just a little bit.
