Shalna

Sure I like him, but I refuse to share a weyr with him! Nachth scoffed. He's not getting me that easy.

Don't be so proud Nachth, Shalna chided. You like Arzanth as much as I like P'sol and we both know what will happen after you rise and he catches you so why not speed things up a bit?

Who says I'm rising? Who says he's catching me?

Shard it Nachth! You'll have to rise sooner or later and don't think you can fool me for a moment with that Masseth garbage. I know who'll catch you, whether you want to admit it or not, Shalna glared at the black, who returned her glare with a blank look of indifference.

Only the fastest, most agile male will catch me. That may or may not be Arzanth, Nachth reasoned. And I'm not sharing a weyr with him regardless.

We're bound to end up sharing a weyr with someone sooner or later, Shalna argued. If not with P'sol and Arzanth who have, by the way, a very spacious weyr, then who?

Nachth yawned, as if the entire subject was completely below her notice.I don't particularily want to share a weyr with anyone.

Wherry-dung, Shalna snapped. Can't we just try sharing a weyr with P'sol and Arzanth? Just for a little while, to see what it's like? I promise it won't be all that bad.

If it matters all that much to you, I suppose we could try it, Nachth caved in, privately delighted that they would be sharing a weyr with Arzanth. He was the only male worth tolerating, in Nachth's opinion. Masseth was a good friend, but not weyrmate material. If he tries anything...

We'll be staying even longer, Shalna chuckled. You don't have to be so difficult around me, Nachth, I know you too well.

When Shalna left to inform P'sol of Nachth's agreement, Nachth got up from her couch and wandered out onto her ledge, savoring the view. They'd probably be moved by the next day, and she'd never see the Weyr from here again.

They'd been to Arzanth's weyr before, and it was one of the nicer ones. He was, afterall, a wingleader. He deserved a nice weyr. But it wouldn't be her weyr. It would never belong to Nachth, as this one had. It would be their weyr, another thing to be shared. It was nice to have something that wasn't shared, and Nachth knew that after she moved in with Arzanth, there would be few things like that.

Shalna returned to find Nachth sunning herself on her ledge. She walked out, admiring the view as her dragon had been doing a little while before. I'm going to miss this weyr, she admitted, sitting down beside her dragon.

Nachth eyed her rider suprisedly. Me too. But I'm sure Arzanth's weyr is just as nice. I think I remember it. It was very big and if you're on the ledge at the right time it's the warmest place in the Weyr.

Shalna smiled weakly. I only remember the inside. Are you sure you're ok with this? We don't have to move... they could move here.

For a moment, Nachth was tempted to voice her doubts but the look on her rider's face made her think otherwise. Don't be so sappy, Nachth chided. Their weyr is bigger than ours, that great bronze lump wouldn't fit in here.

I suppose you're right, Shalna admitted. But that doesn't make moving any easier.

I know.
