R'dian
Are you ready to leave yet? Kaieth asked from where he stood on his ledge, already loaded down with things R'dian had brought with him to Falas and would now take to Quinalt.
R'dian shoved the last tunic into it's bag and then glared in the direction of his dragon. How is it that you had decided we were not leaving last night and now you can't wait to get out of here?
Last night, I wasn't loaded down with all your junk, Kaieth replied a bit indignantly. Where did all this stuff come from? I feel like a pack-runner!
Oh stop complaining, the heaviest things in there are my riding gear and your oil, R'dian reminded the cream as he strapped down the last bag. There that's it. You're sure you're ok with this?
Kaieth regarded his rider for a moment before replying. If I wasn't, would I allow you to put all this junk on my back?
R'dian nodded, gazing out at the weyrbowl of Falas below them. It was the closest he'd ever get to a definete yes, and rider and dragon knew it.
I am going to miss Falas, you know. It was our home for a long time. But we can always come back and visit.
I am going to miss the females most, Kaieth said with an over-dramatic sigh. Many of them will rise soon, and I won't be here to catch them.
R'dian chuckled. Just like Kaieth to come up with something like that to say when R'dian was feeling down. It had always been that way between him and Kaieth. He'd feel bad, and Kaieth would always know just the right thing to cheer him up. We can come back to chase them, R'dian suggested.
To catch them, Kaieth corrected. Now are we leaving or are we just going to stand here? I'd like to get to Quinalt in time to meet some ladies before it's too dark.
Is that all you ever think about? R'dian asked, climbing up onto his dragon's back and securing himself in his riding harness.
When I'm not thinking about you, Kaieth replied before leaping from his ledge and winking between, towards Quinalt Weyr and the next chapter of their lives.
