Naeemah | Pre-search

Two sevendays after Thess' visit, Naeemah began to get homesick. She caught herself gazing idly in the direction of the Hall when she should have been working. She couldn't wait for Thess to return, but she also chided herself for her high hopes. Chances were the plan wouldn't work out for one reason or another.

It didn't help her home sickness any when Kejo swam up to Naeemah's island looking very proud of himself with a young, slender little female in tow. "Neema! Neema!" he called excitedly, breaking her out of one of her relections of home.

"Who's this, Kejo?" Naeemah asked as she paddled out to meet the pair on her raft. "A new member of the pod?"

"Thees ees Sivi, my mate," he announced proudly, struggling to pronounce the words as Naeemah had been teaching him to. "She weell have calf!"

"Congratulations to both of you," Naeemah remarked, giving Kejo an affectionate slap on the side. "You were quick."

"Kejo ess viry gowd et weelcoming mey tow hess powd," Sivi replied, giving Kejo an affectionate nuzzle. Kejo nuzzled her back.

"Kejo, that's not very gentlemanlike of you, claiming the new girl before anyone else has a chance at her," Naeemah chided, though she couldn't help chuckle at Sivi's wording.

"She coumee, I hed to welcoume heer," Kejo replied with a sly grin.

"Kejo seed you hed dolpheen befeer you caime herr," Sivi began bluntly with all the typical dolphin curteousy. "I wawnt tow naime mey celf efter heer. Whet wes heer naime?"

"You want to name your calf after my Kiy?" Naeemah asked, her eyes suddenly tearing. It occured to her that she had been thinking less and less about Kiy as the days went on.

"Kiy ess a gowd naime," Sivi concluded. "Kiy et ess."

"Kiy ees a veery good naime," Kejo agreed.

"This means a lot to me, you two," Naeemah told the two dolphins. "It's good that if Kiy couldn't be carried on in her child, she'll be carried on in her name."

"I'll proteect Sivi froume failling boets wiyle shee's weeth calf," Kejo announced.

"You'd better," Naeemah threatened. "Now go get some food in that skinny mate of yours! Kiy should be a big, healthy little calf!"

The pair said their goodbyes and then left, skimming along just beneath the surface. Kejo jumped once they were a little ways out and Sivi after him. Soon, they were jumping in and out of the water together and Naeemah watched them until they dissapeared over the horizon.

The next morning, Thess arrived with the supplies and Naeemah began to prepare for her long journey back to the rest of the world.
