Quintessential High School Tragedy

It rained last Sunday.
Heaven's teardrops splashed upon the windshield
And I'm staring at you from the backseat.
Watching your hair flutter behind your ear.
A wave of insecurity
Another wave of jealousy.
Your face in the rearview mirror
Eyes meet, eyes lock
As I think of our imaginary kisses.
When my heart is yours
And you haven't learned to share,
I'm sitting in the backseat.
A lonely detour.
Stop lights reflected in the puddles
   Around the drainage grates
   Keep me in the shadows
And splash ligh upon our face.
Seven days without love makes one weak.
      I'm feeling weaker everyday.
      Seven gone, seven more.
Seven days on this lonely detour.
The weeks add up and I know,
Spent three whole years. What have I to show?
A composition notebook full of songs
      Bound by a broken heart.
Somewhere between Red Barn Court
And Conestoga Road
I lost the pieces of my heart.
Hidden in the bushes
Or shrouded by the mist.
You'll find the heart that belongs to me:
The quintessential high school tragedy.
Stop lights reflected in the puddles
   Around the drainage grates
   Keep me in the shadows
And splah light around your face.
Seven days without love makes one weak.
       I'm feelings weaker everyday.
       Seven gone, seven more.
Seven days on this lonely detour.
The weeks add up and I know,
Spent three whole years. What have I to show?
A composition notebook full of songs
       Bound by a broken heart.
