I once thought what I did didn't matter at all,

but then I found the world was really quite small.
The whole world is affected by the actions I take;
I never knew what a difference one person could make.
Something as simple as turning off a light
Is a step toward saving the world from its plight.
If you put it all together it'll add up really fast,
and then maybe our days on this planet will last.
At the rate we're going now we don't have very long,
but I'm convinced those who call it hopeless are wrong.
If we all work together then we can succeed
At saving ourselves and the planet we need.
Earth is the only home that we know;
If we destroy it there's no place else for us to go.
We're killing species of plants and animals en masse;
Soon the earth will be a republic of insects and grass.
The ozone layer is rapidly depleting;
Our life-giving sun might just kill us through heating.
We're using up our resources incredibly fast;
We're nave if we actually believe they will last.
We're polluting the land and the sea and the air;
Soon there won't be a clean place to live anywhere.
In short it seems clear that our planet will die;
But if you won't accept this then neither will I.
So think about the consequences of the actions you take,
And remember the difference one person can make.
