| Rwanda - is a small country in east-central Africa, just south of the equator. The people of Rwanda are divided into two large ethnic groups-the "Bahutu" and the "Watusi". The Bahutu are farmers, and the the Watusi are cattle owners. Even though Rwanda is near the equator, it has a cool, pleasant climate. This is because it lies on a series of high, level plateaus (plains). Rwanda is sometimes called the "African Switzerland", because of its beautiful lakes, valleys, and snow-capped mountains. Kigali is the capital city, French & Kinyarwanda is their language. |
