| Hungary is a small, landlocked country in central Europe. Great economic and social changes have occured in Hungary since the late 1940's. Before that time, most of the country's income came from agriculture, and the majority of Hungarians lived in rural areas and worked on farms. As Hungary has become industrialized, modern city ways of life have become popular. Many old rural customs are thus disappearing. But Hungarians still love the highly seasoned foods, excellent wines, and lively folk music for which they have long been famous. Budapest is the capital city and the largest. |
