| Croatia is one of the six republics of Yugoslavia. Croatia covers 21,829 square miles (56,537 square kilometers). Most of Croatia's people belong to a Slavic group called Croats, who speak the Serbo-Croatian language and belong to the Roman Catholic Church. Zagreb is Croatia's capital and city. Croatia became independent in 1991. |
