Capcom Fighting Evolution
Capcom Fighting Evolution is a fighting game that has a veritable hodge-podge of characters from various Capcom games each with their own fighting style.
Street Fighter II-No fancy recovery techniques, one-level super bar, super strong attacks
Characters: Ryu, Guile, Zangief, M. Bison, and Shin Akuma(secret character)

Street Fighter Alpha-Alpha Counter, Safe Roll, Custom Combo Gauge (can use a Custom Combo or a Super Combo at or over 50%)
Characters: Sakura, Rose, Karin, and Guy

Street Fighter III-Parrying, two-level Super Bar, Safe Fall, ES attacks (uses one-half level), Jump Attack, Small Jump
Characters: Chun-Li, Alex, Urien, and Yun

Darkstalkers-Chain Combo, Air Blocking, ES attacks, EX attacks, three-level gauge, Pursuit, ES Pursuit, Guard Cancel
Characters: Demitri, Felicia, Anakaris, Jedah, and Pyron(secret character)

Red Earth-Level Up System, Pursuit, Ultimate Guard, Safe Roll
Characters: Leo, Hauzer, Hydron, and Kenji

These are the specific styles and techniques for all of the characters except for Ingrid and Shin Akuma.

One thing about this game is that some styles/characters play out better against other styles/characters. For example Kenji (a character who is basically a slow, long range attacker) would not fare so well against faster (Demitri) or stronger (Ryu) while he would be more ideal for a character such as Hauzer (who coincidentally has the same style). I will list the styles in order of overall effectiveness. Keep in mind that when you play it you may feel differently about the effectiveness of the different styles. Pros and cons will be stated by each style as well.
Darkstalkers: great combo connection and attack speed/most super attacks are "all or nothing" attacks

Street Fighter II: super strong and familiar to most players/sitting ducks on the ground and in the air as they have no defensive measures on the ground or in the air

Red Earth: Ultimate Guard blocks most attacks and lasts a few seconds/characters are bizarre (Hydron and Hauzer) both in appearance and playability and it takes one level to level up OR use a Mystic Break attack.

Street Fighter III-Parrying is good attack deterrent but is only good for one hit/quick recovery is hard to perform (quickly tapping down right before you hit the ground

Street Fighter Alpha-Decent strength and no slow bulky characters/alpha counters are harder to perform than in the games they come from, super combos are mostly weak, and custom combos are all but useless to anyone except for experts
