| Santa & I travel about so much, we hear all sorts of Christmas Legends, every year I try to share a different one. Here is one of the Legends of the Christmas Rose. Long, long ago, when The Christ Child was born, the Magi came from all over to honor him with gifts of myrrh, frankincense and gold. I know, I know, you have heard this part of the story many times and in many different ways. Well, our story begins with a little shepherd girl. She wanted to lay a gift down before the Christ Child as well but alas, she was very poor and had nothing to give. She stood outside watching the beautiful baby and with each gift laid at his feet, she felt more and more sad. She decided a beautiful flower would be the perfect gift and started her search. The winter had been a hard one and she was unable to find even a single flower. She felt sad again and started to cry. She cried so hard that an angel heard her cries and took pity on this poor, gentle shepherd girl. As she watched in amazement, the angel stooped in front of her and started brushing away the snow. There under the snow, where she had shed her tears of love and sorrow, were the most beautiful white roses she had ever seen. They had pink on the petals. The angel said to the shepherd girl, " you have no gold or myrrh or even frankincense to give the Christ Child it's true, but these Christmas Roses which sprang from tears that came from your heart, could not make a more fitting gift." And so began the legend of the Christmas Rose. FROM OUR FAMILY TO YOURS, HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A SAFE, HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON... Frank, Jay, Sue, Kathy, Marcy, Joey, Richey & of course Mrs. Claus and the elves Christina & Jordan. |
