Swifts were slow to get into their stride at Maginn Park on sunday and they paid the penalty on the 5th minute. Anner's Delaney sent over a low cross from the right and as the Point defence hesitated, Patrick Gorman collected the ball and calmly slotted it passed Gabriel McColgan as he advanced to narrow the angle. The Inishowen Champions quickly retaliated and Frank Doyle came to save bravely at the feet of Neil McColgan, being injured in the process. This was one of a series of fine saves by the Dubliner custodian that contributed to making it a frustating afternoon for Quigleys Point.
Although the Donegal men were luck to escape a penalty decision when a late tackle sent Paul Moles sprawling, Anner were very much on the defensive and hasd a real let offwhen Nielus Faulkner hit the bottom of the post from close range. The Visitors had two further scares when Neil McColgan twice rattled the woodwork. However they were dangerous on the break and only a superb tackle by John McDaid on Gorman near the interval saved a second goal. With two minutes of the first half left, Doyle brought down the house when he went full strech to push out a fierce shot from Brian McIvor.
Quigleys Point superiority was even more pronounced against the breeze in the second half throughout which they laid seigr to the opposition goal.
Neil McColgan was most unlucky with a fine effort that came off the crossbar in the 75th minute and a great weaving run by Brian McIvorin the dying minutes looked promising until he was crowed out by weight of numbers.
John McColgan, Laurence McColgan, Eddie O'Kane and Neil McColgandid best for the Swifts while the Dubliners outstanding performers were Derek Sexton, John Doyle, John Hendrick and Patrick Gorman.
