Instructions for Mirrored Wall
I'm so glad you liked the mirrors. I'll do my best to explain and if you have any questions just send them this way.
I purchased the mirrors at Wal-Mart. They had a light stain on them. All I did was sand and paint. Hanging them was a bit tricky. It wasn't easy getting them all straight. They were hung perfectly straight the first time but to high. My mistake, when I lowered them I did it all by myself. It takes at least 2 people to hang them and 3 is even better. I made out of 1 bys, a "H" with another piece of wood across the top to the "H." I used small "L" brackets to attach each piece of wood so that when it was finished every piece of wood would lay flat against the wall. I then measured on the "H" were the screws would go to hang the mirror. I put a screw through each side but just had it sticking out about a 1/4 of an inch on the other side. DH held the "H" to the wall, I put a level on it and when it was straight I lightly hammered where the screws were. This made a slight indentation in the wall to show me where to put the wall screws. That was for the first mirror, the second, third and fourth mirrors were hung the same way but put the level on the first mirror so I'd know the placement of the rest of the mirrors. The bottom of the mirror is about 45" from the floor. My I suggest that you have someone hold the mirror at that height and you stand back and see if it is a good height and go from there. That way you won't go through what I did and have to rehang. You will need heavy duty anchors and screws. Chances are you won't hit a stud. I may have it one. LOL I think that's about it for the mirrors. If you have ANY questions I'll be happy to answer them.
I'll sent you info on the shelf after I hear from you about this email. I don't want you to get to confused. LOL
Good Luck and have fun.
Judy
PS. If you need a drawing or anything let me know. I can TRY to draw and scan it, then send. LOL
O yes, the shelf. I measured from frist mirror to last mirror then rounded it off. The mirrors measured 99 3/4 inches so I purchased a 9 foot 8 by.
Found some trim moulding that I like and was the same (or close) size as the thickness of the board. Attcahed with nail gun ( another story all in it's self) and then primed. You'd never know it but it's not painted yet. LOL I have a LOT of unfinished stuff around here. O yes, I used 3 brackets that I also painted white
Attached is a picture of the jigs I made to put up the mirrors. I forgot to tell you about one of the jigs. Just make a T our of 1 bys. The top should be about the width of one mirror. You don't use this to hang the first mirror. This is for all the rest of the mirrors. After hanging the first mirror, place the T on top of the first mirror. ( In the picture I sent, locate the arrow in picture #1. That's where the corner of your next mirror will go. And so it goes until they are all hung. O yes, I almost forgot. I also made a spacer. I took a piece of wood the same size as the space I wanted between each mirror. That way I didn't have to do any measuring. What can I say, I'm somewhat lazy? LOL If you have any questions let me know.
