Officers Killed in the Line of Duty

This my Memorial to Officers Killed in the Line of Duty. Some of these Officers where friends and co-workers of some of the people I have met on-line. I wish to express my sympathy to the families and friends of these Officers that were killed trying to protect us and make a better world for everyone. My greatest fear as a Dispatcher was hearing "Officer Down, Send Help!!!!!".

Below are just a few of the Officers killed in the Line of Duty. The Torch below burns for all of them and all the Officers not listed on this page that gave their lives while performing their duty as Law Enforcement Officers.

Officer Bryan Raney

Bladenboro, NC Police Department
killed when a vehicle fleeing from State
Troopers crashed into his cruiser.
May 13, 2001

Officer Ryan Cunningham

Vail, Colorado Police Department
Died from a 60-foot fall off the bridge when
investigating an accident on the icy when truck
driver lost control of his vehicle.
May 13, 2001

Lt. Christopher Claypool

Columbus, Ohio Police Department
killed three days shy of his 40th birthday,
by a hit-and-run driver on what started as
a routine call to a fender bender
April 30, 2001

Trooper John Robert Davis

Tennessee Highway Patrol
Apparently lost control of his patrol car
Just completed an investigation of a
0separate, unrelated traffic mishap.
March 17, 2001

Const. Jurgen "Ziggy" Seigfried Seewald

Nunavut, Canada
Shot and killed while responding
alone to a domestic dispute
March 5th, 2001

Bryan, Texas Police Department
died Saturday after his police
motorcycle was struck by a pickup
December 2, 2000

Trooper Rick Lee Johnson

35 years old
5 years with the Michigan State Police
Died from injuries sustained while making a traffic Stop
May 6th, 2000

Deputy Rupert Peete

Memphis, Tennessee
Shot at the scene of a house fire
March 8th, 2000

Deputy Todd Widman

Brown County, Hiawatha, Kansas
Shot while investigating a suspicious person
walking. Deputy Widman was 21 years old.
The suspect, a Juvenile, is deceased.
March 2nd, 2000

Officer Michael E. Deno

Oakland City Police Department, Indiana
Shot while making a traffic stop at near point-blank range.
The Suspect was later arrested.
February 28th, 2000

Officer Floyd "Skip" Fink

Arizona Department of Public Safety
Was killed in a fiery hit-and-run accident while
he had another vehicle stopped.
February 18th, 2000

Trooper Jason E. Beal

Indiana State Police
Died three days after being struck by a
vehicle while assisting a tow truck driver
remove a vehicle from a ditch.
January 15th, 2000

Trooper Richard T. Gaston

Indiana State Police
Killed on the Indiana Toll Road when a
semitrailer truck hit his squad car.
March 1999

Trooper Cory Elson

Indiana State Police
Gunned down during a routine traffic stop.
April 3rd, 1999

Officer Thomas McMahon

Police Department, Richmond, Virginia
Shot and killed during a chase.
October 4th, 1998

Master Trooper David Anthony Deuter

Indiana State Police
Trooper Deuter, age 49, was struck by a
semi tractor-trailer while making a traffic stop.
Trooper Deuter was a 26 year Veteran the Patrol.
July 23rd, 1998

Officer William Burtt

Police Department, Norfolk, Virginia
Office Burtt was shot in a Domestic Situtation.
February 3, 1998.

Deputy Sheriff Kevin Scott Easter

Sheriff's Office, Sedgwick County, Wichita, Kansas
Shot while investigating suspicious vehicle.
January 7, 1996
