| Part VI | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ;Two missions later he was entering his data into another school's database when another name caught his attention. He quickly scrolled back up and saw it ...Chang Wufei. Smiling he decided that Wufei would get a roommate by the name of Bobby Hexylmin. Doubtless Wufei would be annoyed since he clearly requested a single room, but with a small tap of his fingers suddenly Wufei wanted a roommate. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Wufei was already in the room when Robin lugged a heavy suitcase full of nothing into the room. Plunking it down on the empty side of the room Robin, now a redhead with hazel eyes held out his hand for Wufei to shake. Instead of the usual greeting of 'Hey, my name is...' Robin simply asked | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Now you're not going to attack me again are you?" | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Wufei?s eyes widened imperceptibly then then narrowed again. "Not at all, Bobby, was it?" | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Yeah, Wufei, that's my name all right." | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The corner of Wufei's mouth twitched slightly in amusement. This time they worked together on their assignment. Robin was a better roommate than Wufei expected. Instead of being loud and obnoxious, Robin was only that way when in the presence of his many acquaintances. In the room Robin would finish his homework in record time then spend his time researching their assignment, or pouring over one of the many medical texts he borrowed from the library. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Wufei noticed that he also woke up at 4:00am, when most of the student population was asleep, and go off somewhere. When he came back, usually an hour or two later, he would take a shower and drop back to sleep. So one day Wufei decided to follow him, thereby avoiding getting the normally vague answers that came whenever he asked Robin anything remotely personal. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| He followed Robin and saw him practice katas on a isolated grassy field near to where they were staying, but far enough that people wouldn't see him. He was practicing with a BO staff that Wufei never saw among his belongings. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Do you want to join me?" Robin asked not two minutes after Wufei caught sight of him. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Sure why not?" | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Robin finished his kata and collapsed his BO staff again. Wufei looked at it in interest. Robin cheerfully demonstrated the particular characteristics of his favorite weapon. Tucking the weapon back into his shirt both boys started on a weaponless kata. They decided that next time they would spar against each other. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Within a couple of weeks they solidified their plan for attacking the base, and a few days afterward they attacked and the mission was successful. Neither of them had missions assigned to them afterward, so Robin decided to stay in the school. Wufei saw no point in this and so left, rather abruptly, leaving Robin to give explanations to the rest of the student body. Annoyed by the attention, he gave conflicting stories as to why the abrasive Chinese student left. He started off giving very plausible explanations, however as more and more of the student body believed him without a second thought, Wufei's reasons for leaving became so odd, people were willing to pass off the Chinese student as some sort of psycho. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Well, he would come into the room at odd hours of the night, and he would tell me that there were aliens after him." | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The words rolled off of Robin's tongue with little conscious thought. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "He would then start packing and then pass out. I think he was doing drugs and his parents finally acknowledged the problem and pulled him out of school to get him into rehab." | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The girl he was talking to nodded solemnly and turned to leave. In his previous life no one would have believed him, even if it was the truth. Here everyone believed him. It disturbed him a great deal. The students he met would be able to be brain-washed too easily. It would be too easy to control and manipulate them. It was as if they had never lost their innocence. Robin walked through the corridors to his room. Perhaps that was what he was protecting by being a Gundam pilot. Their right to be as innocent as they wanted to be. It wasn't fair though. As soon as this war ended another would start because these people were too stupid to think for themselves. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| He turned on his computer and immediately a message flashed up onto the screen. He opened it, decoded it and his eyes widened a little in shock. All the top leaders of Oz would be meeting in three days to discuss their war strategy. That was too good to be true. One shot and the war would be over and everyone would be free to experience peace. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| It had to be too good to be true. It was not possible, there would be no way the top leaders of Oz would be stupid enough to gather in one place, not to mention no one would be stupid enough to let that information slip if it were true. Something about the setup wasn't right, and Robin wanted to find out what it was before he took a shot at the supposed leaders of Oz. Flicking off his computer he picked it up and left. He walked calmly and, apparently, aimlessly toward his Gundam. He made sure no one saw him or followed him and soon he was on his motorcycle heading to where his Gundam was hidden. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Once there he hooked up his laptop to the Gundam's computer systems, using the laptop to do a search for Chang Wufei. This was too big, the other pilot must have heard about it. He was relieved when the program picked up the other Gundam. He opened his communication lines and hailed the other Gundam. The lines were open and after a second his call was answered. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Wufei, did you get a mission?" | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Yes" | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Was it to assassinate the top leaders of Oz?" | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Wufei did not seem surprised that Robin knew about his mission. He was as intelligent as Robin, and it was obvious The same thoughts had occurred to the Chinese pilot as well. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Yes" | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Does anything about this mission stink to you?" | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| That got Wufei's attention. "What do you mean?" | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "I don?t know, but something just doesn't," Robin smiled slightly "Jive. Is there anywhere I can meet you?" | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Instead of answering Wufei gave Robin some coordinates. In response Robin sent back ETA. Nothing further to say, he shut down communications and went back to his room. He quickly packed everything that he needed, and that all fit into one backpack. He would not look odd going across campus with a backpack on his shoulders. He shifted some things in is backpack around and checked to see if he still had his box. He fingered the chain around his wrist. It was his father's chain, and the key to his home still dangled from the chain. He tucked the key and chain into the glove he put on. He carried his trench coat and shouldered his backpack and once again made his way to the Redbird. He was about to put on the mask, but then decided not to. He initiated the start-up sequence, and within 10 minutes he was a couple of miles from the school. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The flight to the coordinates Wufei gave him was short, and he got there with plenty of time to spare. He used the time to dye his hair back to the black hair he was born with. He took out the colored contacts that hid the fact that his eyes were blue, and waited for Wufei to arrive. He didn't have to wait long. At the sound of an aircraft he looked up to see the Gundam in the air a couple of miles above him. Twenty minutes later he was looking into the eyes of the Chinese pilot. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Long time no see." Robin said with a smile. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Indeed," Wufei raised an eyebrow "Is there some reason for this meeting, or did you feel the need to shoot the breeze before we end this war?" | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Robin half smiled. "There is a reason. I got the message that the top Oz officials were meeting, and I was overjoyed, considering that this would end the war. However, it seemed too good to be true, don't you think?" | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Wufei did not respond, but Robin could tell his words were having an effect on the other pilot. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "The first thing I did was contact you. You could help me to verify a couple of thing and maybe give me some back-up." | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| That said he outlined his plan. First, find out who exactly was on the guest list. Then check this against the Oz official's own personal plans. More often than not, their schedules would be entered into computers by secretaries and such. After confirming the whereabouts of the Oz officials on the day of the conference, they would look to find the actual attendees of the conference. Finally, they would verify all the information they hacked by attending the conference, either to destroy it from the inside, or to protect the attendees from the other Gundams they had heard about. The plan outlined, the two boys set to work. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ';They went to a safe place that Wufei knew, and from there they set about finding out the information that they needed. Given that they only had three days, and one of those days was pretty much gone, they worked tirelessly not even bothering to sleep. Simply checking the schedules of the Oz officials told them a great deal. Almost none of the officials would be present at the conference. Given that information, it left the question, who would be there? The logical precursor to that question would be what would Oz gain by making it seem like all the militant leaders would be present? Both Robin and Wufei had been told to destroy the conference, which meant that was probably what Oz wanted. Therefore Oz's enemies would be the ones present. That only left the question who was Oz's enemies? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ';The second day, after no sleep Wufei decided that their plan had flaws. One of the easiest ways of finding out who was attending would be to sneak into the conference. Seeing the logic of his suggestion Robin agreed. Robin, already having an officer's uniform decided he would sneak into the conference. Wufei would hide nearby in his Gundam, and continue to try and hack information. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "That's idiotic, you are the better hacker, I will wear the uniform and do reconnaissance." | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Slightly annoyed that Wufei was making more sense than he was, Robin agreed. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Back to Robin | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
