spider-man � C+ He web-shoots, he misses. Director Sam Raimi has spun a sticky web that netted my attention and then tangled me up in a laughable myriad of serious intrigue, sappy love, hellish costumes, and comic-book action gone bad. Raimi's balancing act fails miserably and he tumbles half-way. His unconvincing attempt to juggle a clich�ish, syrupy romance, a crazy scientist, and a loose, better-to-ignore storyline in one film ends in one George of the Jungle disaster. Pathetically predictable, its story is typical of big-time Blockbusters with shooting, running, and killing. Only one problem; the cartoon stip war more realistic than these second-rate computer effects. And the Green Goblin resembles some heinous Power Ranger reincarnation . The only thing that impressed me was the acting. But even Toby and Kirsten can't save this flop. Stick at home. |
