I wish to submit an
application for a possible Forum Jedi position.
I am aware that there is no current need for any more moderators at this
time. I am only submitting this application
to be on-file in case the need ever arises.
Schedules and Activities:
I typically browse
every board for an overall view of what is being talked about. The boards that I spend the most time in
would be Books, Comics, and Television,
Episodes IV-VI, and Star Wars Miscellaneous. I am most active during the evening-to-late
night hours, roughly between 6:30 pm EST and 4:00 am EST. I am online almost every single day as my
schedule permits.
From my experience in
the past on other forums, I am polite and helpful. I remain civil even towards those who try my
patience. I like to spark discussions
and I prefer to frequent topics that have a more generalized subject, rather
than a specific focus. I am well-acquainted
with forum rules and policies, and if I am unsure about something, I will ask
first. I try to maintain some humour with my professionalism.
Experience and
Special Skills:
In the past, I have
moderated several forums and am familiar with the interfaces of Simple Machines
Forums, vBulletin, phpBB, Invision, ProBoards, and ezBoard. I learn
quickly and I like to keep a good morale with the rest of the staff and the
members. I see the position of the staff
as to help the members. The staff are not merely forum police; they are also the
examples that the members should follow.
They are there to answer questions, keep the peace, and make the forum a
respectable and friendly community.
One of the forums
that I had gotten the chance to administrate is no longer online. This was due to a conflict that arose with
the former forum administrator. This
will be explained another time.
The forum that I
administrated was known as the Megaman Community, or
the “MMC.” On that large forum, I was
known as “Quickman.”
I still go by this name on the other Megaman forums that I
frequent. During my tenure on the MMC, I
turned the entire forum around as at the time, it was becoming a “wretched hive
of n00bs and spammy trolls.” The former administrator was too lax and did
not enforce the rules properly. He was
more concerned with making money and would often disappear for weeks and months
at a time.
I managed the forum
in a democratic manner. All of the decisions
were discussed with the staff, and later with the members themselves before any
majour changes were made. I was civil, helpful, and respected by the
members and staff. My former coworkers
have said that I was the best and most professional administrator that they had
ever worked with. I turned that forum
around and made it into a community that people actually wanted to join.
I was strict when I
needed to be, and people respected and understood why they were either warned
or banned. I made sure that my staff
also followed the rules to a fault and did not let their position of power go
to their heads. I have demoted staff
members before for that reason, as I will not tolerate such behaviour. Such power-hungry actions and manners are
unprofessional.
The moderators are
there to set the example for the members to follow. They are helpful, responsible, and manage the
forum with a professional manner. The
staff of a forum should be respected, not feared. That is what I believe.

Thank you for
reading this application, and thank you for your consideration. If selected, I promise to uphold the respect
and professionalism of the Forum Jedi. I
will be responsible, polite, and strict when the situation calls for it. I will not play favourites
with any member, as all members, regardless of status, are bound by and
expected to adhere to the rules of the forum.
I look forward to
hearing from you.
